An Iowa mother is facing charges 10 months after her infant son tragically died. Jaley Dakota Bush, 28, was arrested in Keokuk, Iowa, on child endangerment resulting in death charges related to the January 2025 incident. The seven-month-old baby died nine days after being found unresponsive, later determined to have succumbed to asphyxia.
Authorities responded to a call and found the baby unresponsive. Bush claimed the infant had crawled or fallen into a trash can next to her while she slept, under the influence of Klonopin. Evidence at the scene suggested drug use, and a blood test confirmed benzodiazepines and methamphetamine in her system.
Bush has a prior aggravated misdemeanor charge and was on probation until October 2022. The current charge is a class B felony, carrying a potential sentence of up to 25 years in prison. She was released on $50,000 bond after her arrest.
