Inmate Recounts Alleged Knife Incident Involving Rapper Diddy at Brooklyn Jail
5 Nov
Summary
- Diddy transferred to FCI Fort Dix prison in October 2024
- Alleged knife attack by inmate at Brooklyn's MDC facility before transfer
- Inmate Raymond Castillo intervened to protect Diddy

In October 2024, rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs was transferred from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn to the low-security FCI Fort Dix prison in New Jersey to begin his four-year sentence. This move came after an alleged incident at the MDC, where Combs was reportedly nearly attacked by another inmate wielding a knife.
According to Raymond Castillo, the inmate who intervened to protect Combs, the confrontation began while the rapper was watching a TV show. The would-be attacker approached Combs with a request, and when he refused, the man allegedly obtained a handmade shiv and began to approach Combs. Castillo then stepped in to prevent the attack.
While there were initial reports of a knife being held to Combs' throat, Castillo has now stated that these were "false rumors." He described the incident as more of an "intimidation" tactic rather than a true assassination attempt. Despite the precarious situation, Combs apparently handled the confrontation effectively, and the authorities were eventually called to the scene.
