A severe incident occurred at Sarvodaya Hospital on February 27, resulting in a partial amputation of an infant's finger. The child, Shree Tyagi, was undergoing treatment and was being prepared for discharge.
During the removal of a cannula from the infant's left hand, a nurse allegedly used scissors to cut the securing surgical tape. In the process, the child's fingertip, including the portion under the nail, was inadvertently severed.
The infant's father, Ankush Tyagi, filed a complaint on February 28, leading to a case registered under Section 125 of the BNS. Police are conducting a thorough investigation, and the findings will be sent to the Indian Medical Council for oversight.
Doctors have confirmed that the amputated part of the finger cannot be reattached. While the hospital administrative officer stated the family is satisfied with the ongoing treatment, they have indicated they will withdraw their case.
