A man identified as Brenton Howland, 20, is facing multiple charges following an alleged child abduction that spanned two states. The incident began Tuesday evening in Greene County, Ohio, when Howland reportedly stopped a vehicle, forcibly removed the mother of his 2-month-old child, and fled with the infant.
Authorities issued a statewide alert, which was then shared with law enforcement in Northern Kentucky. Howland's vehicle was located in Boone County, Kentucky, leading to a high-speed pursuit that extended into Kenton County. The pursuit was terminated due to Howland's dangerous driving.
The vehicle was later spotted by local police. During an attempted traffic stop, Howland's car sideswiped a deputy's cruiser, causing it to collide with another vehicle before crashing into the Walton United Methodist Church. Howland sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was apprehended.
The infant was safely recovered from the vehicle and transported to a hospital for evaluation, ultimately being found unharmed. The child has since been reunited with its mother. A deputy involved in the pursuit sustained injuries but has been released from the hospital.
