A harrowing four-day search operation culminated in the rescue of a two-month-old baby boy, Vicky, who was allegedly kidnapped for a human sacrifice. The infant was recovered from Delhi's Kashmere Gate bus stand, bringing an end to a multi-state pursuit. This complex investigation involved the meticulous analysis of over 1,000 CCTV footage clips, alongside electronic surveillance and on-ground intelligence gathering.
The abduction occurred on the night of November 2-3 from Rajabari Tola Ramjita village. Police arrested three individuals: Savitri (28), Saraswati (55), and Karan Kumar Gautam (22), with Karan assisting the two women. The accused reportedly intended to sacrifice the child to appease perceived misfortune, including locating a missing husband and son and averting family tragedies.
A crucial lead emerged from CCTV footage showing a woman with the infant near Rajabari Bridge. Investigators tracked her movements, eventually leading them to Delhi. Upon their recovery, the suspects could not account for the child's identity, prompting police to confirm the infant's recovery with the parents. Further interrogation revealed the motive stemmed from distress over past family losses, influenced by an occult practitioner who advised a human sacrifice.
Investigators stated that the accused were led to believe a ritualistic sacrifice would resolve their issues and prevent further calamities. This belief fueled their plot to kidnap the infant and carry out the macabre ritual. The successful recovery underscores the effectiveness of the extensive investigative measures employed by the Maharajganj police.
