- Baby died from dehydration and malnutrition in hazardous home.
- Mother, grandfather, and girlfriend arrested on manslaughter charges.
- Investigators found extreme neglect and lack of proper care.

A tragic case of infant neglect has led to the arrest of three individuals after a nearly 3-month-old boy died from dehydration and malnutrition. The infant was found in a mobile home described by investigators as being in "a state of extreme environmental hazard," with severe neglect including roaches and exposed wires. The child was pronounced dead on arrival at HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital on August 20, 2025.
Nicole Maxwell, the infant's mother, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child and aggravated child abuse. Also arrested on the same charges are Robert Maxwell, the child's grandfather, and his girlfriend, Vikki Koon. These arrests followed a detailed investigation, including an autopsy and numerous interviews.
According to records, the infant lived with Robert Maxwell and Koon. Nicole Maxwell stated Koon primarily cared for the child, mentioning her current boyfriend did not want the infant around. She also expressed having too many children. Koon reportedly showed a lack of understanding about infant feeding schedules and needs, and investigators noted possible cognitive delays and autism.
Robert Maxwell claimed he helped with caregiving but was unaware of the infant's sickness. Facebook messages from Robert Maxwell to Nicole Maxwell indicated the infant was sick and urged her to retrieve him. Further messages revealed Koon had run out of food for the baby and attempted to contact Nicole Maxwell multiple times without success.
