An Indore resident has filed a case against a property broker and a plot owner after being defrauded of Rs 7.80 lakh. The complainant, Vijay Chauhan, had agreed to purchase a plot in Nandbagh for Rs 9.30 lakh. He paid a substantial amount, Rs 7.80 lakh, through cash and online transactions following the execution of an agreement.
Dharmendra Thakur, acting as the broker, reportedly facilitated the introduction between Chauhan and plot owner Nandkishore Manawat. However, despite receiving the majority of the payment, neither the registry nor possession of the property was transferred to Chauhan. When Chauhan pressed for the deal's completion, he was allegedly threatened by Thakur.
Manawat later returned Rs 2.50 lakh in cash and Rs 30,000 via online transfer, totaling Rs 2.80 lakh. However, he refused to repay the remaining Rs 5 lakh. Following Chauhan's complaint and a preliminary inquiry, the Aerodrome police have registered an FIR against both Manawat and Thakur and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
