125 Indians Freed from Myanmar Scam Centers

India has successfully repatriated 125 of its nationals who were freed from scam centers located in Myawaddy, Myanmar. The individuals arrived in Thailand and were subsequently brought back to India on a special flight operated by the Indian Air Force. This operation represents a significant part of the Indian government's broader initiative to rescue and repatriate its citizens trapped in exploitative scam operations across Southeast Asia.

Since March of this year, a total of over 1,500 Indian nationals have been rescued from these scam centers in Myanmar and subsequently repatriated through Thailand. The Indian Embassy in Bangkok, in coordination with the Consulate General of India in Chiang Mai, worked closely with various agencies of the Royal Thai Government and the provincial authorities of Tak, Thailand, to facilitate these crucial repatriations. The special flight carried the freed citizens from Mae Sot in Thailand.

Authorities are strongly advising Indian nationals to exercise caution when considering overseas job offers. It is imperative to thoroughly verify the credentials of foreign employers and investigate the antecedents of any recruiting agents or companies involved. Furthermore, the embassy reiterated that visa-free entry into Thailand is strictly for tourism and short business purposes, and must not be misused for employment in the country.
