Police Boost Patrols for Jewish Holiday
21 May
Summary
- Police increased patrols in Jewish communities for the Shavuot holiday.
- Forces in London and Greater Manchester received extra funding.
- This aims to deter terrorism and provide public reassurance.

Police presence has been notably increased within Jewish communities in anticipation of the upcoming Shavuot holiday. This heightened security measure is supported by an additional £5 million in funding from the Home Office, specifically directed towards police forces in London and Greater Manchester. This funding enables enhanced patrols around various places of worship.
The additional resources are being utilized for Project Servator deployments. These involve specially trained officers who are adept at identifying individuals who might be planning serious criminal activities, including acts of terrorism. Simultaneously, these deployments serve to offer a reassuring presence to the public.
This increased allocation builds upon the existing £73.4 million committed for protective security at Jewish, Muslim, and other faith sites for the 2026-2027 period. The extra funding was announced in the wake of an alleged arson attack in Golders Green in March and a terror attack on a synagogue in Manchester in October.
