The liquid released a powerful and unpleasant odor, described by Minneapolis Council Member LaTrisha Vetaw as smelling like vinegar or ammonia. Vetaw reported that the overwhelming smell caused her to become sick to her stomach and vomit at the scene.
Video footage captured the moment Omar flinched as the substance was deployed. The suspect was subsequently tackled by attendees and removed from the venue. Omar later addressed the incident, stating on X that she is a survivor and will not be intimidated by such acts, expressing gratitude for her constituents' support.
