A 22-year-old IIT-Delhi graduate and daughter of a senior Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer was allegedly raped and murdered in her south Delhi apartment. Police have arrested a 19-year-old former domestic worker, Rahul Meena, in connection with the crime. The attack is described as premeditated, with the accused having detailed knowledge of the victim's family's routine.
According to police, Meena entered the apartment while the victim was alone and preparing for her Civil Services Examination. After a confrontation that turned violent, the victim was struck and strangled. The investigation suggests she was raped while unconscious. The accused then attempted to access a locker, stole cash and jewelry, and fled the scene.
Meena had previously worked for the family but was dismissed due to complaints about borrowing money. Investigators also revealed that Meena allegedly raped another woman in Rajasthan's Alwar hours before the Delhi incident. He reportedly sold his mobile phone and hired a vehicle to evade tracking.
The victim, an accomplished student who had graduated from IIT Delhi, was preparing for her UPSC examinations. The incident occurred on the first day of her revised study schedule.
