20 Oct, 2025
Summary
- CEO blackmailed female idol over intimate footage
- Idol paid 9.8 million KRW to prevent video leak
- CEO committed crime while on probation for prior offense

In a shocking turn of events, a car rental company CEO has been convicted of blackmailing a female idol member over intimate footage discovered on a vehicle's dashcam. The incident occurred in February 2024, when the idol rented a van from the CEO's company. After the vehicle was returned, the CEO reviewed the dashcam footage and found a video showing the idol in a compromising moment with a member of a different male idol group.
Seizing the opportunity, the CEO initiated a campaign of extortion, sending the idol a text message asking about her actions and threatening to expose the footage. He then escalated his demands, claiming the car cost 47 million KRW and asking for half of that amount. Terrified of the footage being leaked, the idol complied, sending a total of 9,793,000 KRW (approximately 587,580 INR) to the CEO across three separate transactions.
The Incheon District Court has now announced the final verdict, condemning the CEO's actions. However, the sentence was suspended due to the CEO's admission of guilt, expression of remorse, and the return of most of the extorted money. The judge stated that the sentence reflected the nature of the blackmail and the significant amount of money involved.
