Idaho Murders: Autopsy reveals brutal details
27 Jan
Summary
- Four University of Idaho students were stabbed over 150 times in total.
- One victim, Xana Kernodle, fought back during the attack.
- A knife sheath found at the scene provided DNA linking the suspect.

Four University of Idaho students, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, were tragically killed on November 13, 2022. Autopsy details, recently unsealed, reveal the brutal nature of the attacks, with victims sustaining a combined total of at least 150 stab wounds. Goncalves suffered at least 38 wounds, Mogen 28, and Chapin 17.
Xana Kernodle, found in her room, sustained the most wounds with 67, and critically, she fought back against her assailant. This struggle, along with a knife sheath left behind, proved crucial. The sheath contained DNA evidence that directly linked Bryan Kohberger to the crime scene.
Kohberger has since pleaded guilty to four counts of first-degree murder. He confessed to the killings in a plea deal that spared him the death penalty. He is now serving four life sentences for the murders of Goncalves, Mogen, Kernodle, and Chapin.
