21 Jan
Summary
- Dismissed IAS officer alleges parents were poisoned with sleeping pills.
- Culprits believed to have fled to Nepal after the dacoity.
- Police arrested one suspect but struggle to recover stolen property.

A dismissed IAS probationer, Puja Khedkar, has lodged a complaint with Pune police, alleging a conspiracy to kill her parents during a dacoity at her bungalow. She claims the culprits administered an excessive dose of sleeping pills to her parents, driver, and watchman through their dinner.
Her parents were admitted to a private hospital's ICU, with her father recovering but her mother remaining in critical condition. The driver and watchman were taken to Sassoon General Hospital. Khedkar urged the police commissioner to personally oversee the investigation to ensure arrests and property recovery.
Police confirmed receiving the email and suo motu registering a case. While one suspect, the father of the domestic help, has been arrested, investigations indicate the main culprits fled to Nepal. The family has criticized the police's lack of progress despite providing suspect details, including names and photographs, and real-time cellphone locations.
