6 Mar
Summary
- Ian Huntley is reportedly blinded and in critical condition after a prison attack.
- The assault occurred in the workshop of HMP Frankland on February 26.
- Another inmate, Anthony Russell, is suspected of carrying out the attack.

Ian Huntley, the convicted murderer of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, has reportedly been blinded following a brutal assault within HMP Frankland. The incident, which occurred on February 26, left the 52-year-old with severe brain trauma after he was repeatedly hit over the head with a metal bar.
Huntley has been placed on life support in hospital as a result of his injuries. Reports suggest that fellow inmate Anthony Russell, 43, may be responsible for the attack, allegedly shouting about his actions afterwards. Russell is currently serving a whole-life tariff for the murders of three individuals.
This is not the first violent incident Huntley has experienced in prison. In 2010, he was seriously injured when another inmate slashed his neck with a homemade weapon. The notorious child killer has been under close observation to prevent such attacks.
