In Hyderabad, Cyberabad police have initiated a new criminal investigation following the online dissemination of identifying information belonging to a minor and her parents. This breach is linked to a prior Pocso case registered against Bandi Bageerath at the Pet Basheerabad police station.
The Cyberabad police acted on a complaint from the Child Welfare Committee chairperson for Medchal-Malkajgiri district. A case was filed on Thursday under relevant sections of the Juvenile Justice Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Pocso Act, specifically addressing the prohibition of revealing a victim's identity.
The newly filed case targets social media users responsible for sharing the girl's photographs, videos, and personal details, along with those of her parents. Police have successfully identified Instagram and Facebook account IDs and URLs involved in circulating the sensitive material. Efforts are currently underway to locate the individuals behind these accounts.
Authorities have issued a stern warning, indicating that strict legal repercussions will be enforced against anyone found to be sharing or amplifying such content online. This action underscores the commitment to protecting the privacy and safety of individuals, especially minors, in the digital space.
