Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the cybercrime team for their swift action, noting that piracy gangs had reached the level of challenging the police.
Pawan Kalyan emphasized the severe impact of piracy on the film industry, not only in terms of financial losses but also the creative investment in producing movies. He welcomed the arrest of the operator of key piracy websites like iBomma and Bappam, and the shutdown of these platforms, as a significant development.
Several Tollywood celebrities, including Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, and SS Rajamouli, have also welcomed the police action, calling it a major step in the fight against movie piracy. The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, VC Sajjanar, met with senior producers on November 17 to receive their personal thanks for the department's efforts.
Immadi Ravi was arrested in Hyderabad on November 14 after returning to the city. Investigators said he operated iBomma, Bappam, and nearly 65 mirror websites, which together drew over 37 lakh monthly views. The platforms were found to be uploading pirated Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and other regional content, causing substantial losses to filmmakers.
