1 Nov
Summary

- Intermediaries allegedly forged consent documents and earned significant commissions.
- Police are investigating recruitment networks and payment trails involving fertility centers.
An extensive police investigation is underway in Hyderabad concerning the alleged exploitation of 43 women through egg donation cycles. Women recruited from economically disadvantaged backgrounds were reportedly offered modest sums, while organizers reaped substantial profits through illegal commissions, with some intermediaries allegedly forging consent documents.
The Malkajgiri police have broadened their inquiry into the recruitment networks, financial transactions, and the involvement of IVF and fertility centers. Rescued women have undergone medical examinations as authorities verify their treatment histories with clinics. Concerns are high regarding informed consent and the full understanding of procedures by the recruited women.
Investigators are tracing payments and commissions linking organizers, recruiters, and intermediaries to fertility establishments. The probe is extending to medical facilities, with notices expected for the District Medical and Health Officer and searches planned at ART centers. Some hospitals have reported dismissing staff implicated in the scheme.
The investigation also scrutinizes how women from states like West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra were recruited, transported, and accommodated in Hyderabad for egg retrieval procedures. Their medical records and consent forms are under close examination. All eight individuals arrested in connection with these cases have been remanded to judicial custody.
