In Vikarabad district, a property dispute tragically culminated in an act of arson, leading to the death of one family member and critical injuries for others. Anar Singh, 30, is accused of dousing his father Hanumanth's house with petrol and setting it ablaze, allegedly motivated by a dispute over six acres of land. This land was part of the inheritance from Singh's late mother, Nathi Bai.
The fire, which occurred around 1 am, trapped Hanumanth, his second wife Ramani Bai, and two of their children, Nenavath Venkatesh and Shiva. Singh allegedly poured petrol through a roof hole and set the house on fire after locking the main door from the outside. Venkatesh, 25, succumbed to his extensive burns on Sunday, while Hanumanth and Ramani Bai are critically injured.
Shiva escaped with minor injuries, and their sister Naveena was not present. The dispute centered on Hanumanth's decision to allocate one acre to Singh and retain over five acres for his second wife, Ramani Bai. This disagreement had reportedly led to prior police complaints from both parties. Anar Singh was initially arrested for attempted murder, with charges altered to murder following Venkatesh's death.
