Malkajgiri police have apprehended the primary suspects in a violent dacoity that targeted an elderly couple at their Hyderabad residence. The investigation revealed that domestic helpers, identified as Nepali nationals Meena and Rajesh, along with their accomplices, orchestrated the crime. The couple was allegedly tied up and sedated before the perpetrators escaped with a significant amount of gold, silver, foreign currency, and mobile phones.
Authorities confirmed the recovery of 38 tola of gold and nine kilograms of silver from the arrested individuals. The gang, which included other Nepali nationals and a person from Darjeeling, was apprehended in two separate operations. This incident prompted law enforcement to initiate a comprehensive verification process for domestic workers across the city, registering details of over 39,000 individuals, including 1,276 Nepali nationals.
