Elite Anti-Drug Officers Caught Selling 1kg Ecstasy

A routine investigation by Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) led to the apprehension of two police constables from the state's elite anti-drug agency, EAGLE. The constables, Swamy and Narahari, were allegedly attempting to sell 1kg of ecstasy pills, with an estimated value of Rs 50 lakh.
Both officers had a history of distinguished service, having been rewarded on previous occasions for their successful anti-drug operations. However, they allegedly misused seized contraband and consumer data to facilitate their illicit sales. One of the constables had recently stumbled upon the drugs and, in collusion with his colleague, decided not to report the seizure to their superiors.
Following their arrest, an inquiry was initiated by EAGLE director Sandeep Shandilya. The two constables have been temporarily removed from duty. Shandilya emphasized a zero-tolerance policy, stating that while good work is rewarded, wrongdoers will be dealt with severely and face criminal charges.
The investigation that led to their capture began when H-NEW was monitoring a known peddler. This pursuit yielded a lead on an unknown peddler, who was subsequently identified as one of the EAGLE constables. Further investigation revealed the involvement of a second officer from the same agency.
