Authorities identified the husband, Ramcheej Gupta, 68, as the alleged mastermind. Investigators believe Gupta conspired with two villagers, Chandan Yadav and Dinesh Gupta, to kill his wife, Manti Devi, 65, and their 42-year-old blind daughter, Gauri. The motive reportedly stemmed from Gupta's concern over social reputation due to his wife's mental illness and his daughter's condition.
Ramcheej Gupta had filed an FIR on September 17, claiming unidentified individuals murdered his wife at home on September 16 and that his daughter was later found dead in a field. However, the investigation revealed the trio allegedly killed the victims around 7 pm on September 16, cleaned the crime scene, and staged the narrative of unknown assailants.
