Gordon Abas Goodarzi was arrested on Friday by the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department in connection with the homicide of his estranged wife, Aryan Papoli. Papoli's body was discovered on November 18, 2025, about 75 feet down a steep embankment near Highway 138 and Crestline Road.
Initially unidentified, the victim was later identified as 58-year-old Aryan Papoli. The coroner determined her death to be a homicide. Goodarzi was contacted at his residence and subsequently taken into custody without bail.
Papoli's son, Navid Goodarzi, who learned of his mother's death after she had been reported missing, established a memorial website at www.aryanpapoli.net. He remembered his mother as someone who loved people, animals, and art, highlighting her journey from revolution-torn Tehran to building a life and family in the United States.
