A routine day of play near a creek in South Carolina turned extraordinary when two brothers stumbled upon a human skull. The discovery, made on Sunday, March 29, prompted an investigation by the Anderson County Sheriff's Office and Coroner's Office. Initially mistaken for an animal bone or rock, the skull's true nature was confirmed, leading to a more extensive search.
Further examination of the area revealed dozens of additional human bones, estimated to be between 50 in number and belonging to one individual. Authorities believe these remains may have been present at the site for five to ten years. An anthropologist has been enlisted to assist investigators in determining the age range and gender of the deceased.
At this time, officials have not been able to ascertain if foul play was involved in the death. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to piece together the history of the discovered remains.
