5 Jun
Summary
- Human bone found wrapped in carpet-like material.
- Police searching home on 4500 Lincrest Drive South.
- Potential link to a man missing since March 2024.

Human remains were discovered late Wednesday night in the backyard of a Jacksonville home on Lincrest Drive South, sending shockwaves through the normally quiet neighborhood. The discovery was made after a resident found a bone and alerted the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Investigators found the remains wrapped in carpet-like material and have been working to recover the rest. The Northeast Florida Medical Examiner's office has identified the item as a human bone. Authorities have not yet located the homeowner and are unsure how long the remains have been at the property.
Adding to the mystery, a missing person report filed on March 7, 2024, for Roderick Earl Porter, who would be 56 now, lists the Lincrest Drive address as his last known location. Detectives confirmed a person went missing in the area two years ago but are still working to determine if there is a connection to the recent discovery.
