Summary
- A vigil is being held two years after a police investigation began.

A vigil is scheduled for today, March 5, 2026, at St Nicholas Church in Hull to commemorate the two-year anniversary of a major police investigation into Legacy Independent Funeral Directors. This event aims to provide pastoral care and support for families impacted by the scandal.
In March 2024, Humberside Police removed 35 bodies and the ashes of 167 people from the funeral home's premises following reports of concern for the care of the deceased.
Further legal proceedings are ongoing. In October 2025, former undertaker Robert Bush, aged 47, admitted to 35 counts of fraud by false representation and fraudulently running a business, specifically concerning the sale of funeral plans at Hull Crown Court.
He also denied 30 counts of preventing lawful and decent burials and one charge of stealing from charity collection boxes. A trial is slated for October 2026, with an additional hearing on April 2, 2026.
