Houston Shooting Suspect Eludes Police After Attacking Deputy

Houston police have released surveillance video and composite sketches of a suspect wanted for a shooting that occurred on July 17. The incident took place around 12:20 p.m. in the 10800 block of Sabo Road.

The victim was at a car wash when the suspect approached, demanding money with a pistol. When the victim attempted to retrieve his wallet from his vehicle, the suspect shot him in the stomach and fled the scene.

A Harris County Precinct 2 Constable deputy, who was nearby, heard the shot and observed the suspect fleeing. The deputy pursued the suspect, who then fired multiple shots at the deputy's vehicle before escaping into an apartment complex.

The victim, a 43-year-old man, was transported to the hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound. The deputy was unharmed, though his vehicle sustained damage from the gunfire. The suspect is described as a young Black man wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt and shorts.
