- Similar cases of forged fire safety certificates have occurred elsewhere.
Police in Arang have initiated a case against the operator of a private hospital following the discovery of a potentially forged fire safety no-objection certificate (NOC). During a joint inspection by the fire department and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), discrepancies were noted in the submitted document.
The hospital management presented a photocopy of the NOC, purportedly issued on April 16, 2026. However, verification attempts, including scanning QR codes, indicated a discrepancy with a 2025 date. Further scrutiny revealed inconsistencies in the named inspecting officer and issues with the signature and departmental logo, casting doubt on its authenticity.
A fire department official stated that commercial and medical establishments must renew their fire NOCs annually. This case marks the first such report in the Raipur district, though similar incidents leading to arrests have previously occurred in Bilaspur and Ambikapur.
The investigation is ongoing, focusing on identifying who prepared the certificate and if external assistance was involved. Fire safety certification is crucial for establishments like hospitals to ensure the safety of patients and staff during emergencies.
