A former Hoover High School official, Trisha Lynn Smith, is scheduled to appear in Stark County Common Pleas Court on July 17 to face felony charges related to the alleged theft of over $73,000 from school booster clubs. The charges include telecommunications fraud, misuse of credit cards, grand theft, and theft.
Smith, 39, served as treasurer for the cheerleaders' parents association and youth director for the girls' basketball booster club. Investigations revealed approximately $66,649 missing from the cheerleading association between September 2023 and July 2025. Separately, the Lady Vikings Basketball Booster Club reported nearly $6,900 missing since May 2024.
