Deputies in El Paso County apprehended a hit-and-run suspect on Sunday, November 23rd, after a pursuit concluded in a desert area. The incident began when officers observed a vehicle matching a suspect's description traveling erratically and crossing the center median.
An attempt to initiate a traffic stop was unsuccessful as the driver, later identified as 20-year-old Angel Gallardo, fled from deputies. The pursuit ended when the suspect's vehicle collided with a dirt berm near Kentwood Drive. Gallardo then abandoned the vehicle and fled into the desert on foot.
He was taken into custody without further incident and faces multiple charges, including evading arrest with a vehicle and duty on striking an unattended vehicle. Sheriff Oscar Ugarte emphasized the commitment to safety and warned against fleeing from law enforcement, stating such actions endanger lives and will not be tolerated.
