19 Oct
Summary
- Workers allege physical abuse and denied bathroom breaks.
- Lawsuit claims HelloFresh threatened workers with ICE.
- Allegations include sexual harassment and racist remarks.
A class action lawsuit filed by former workers at a HelloFresh facility in Newark, New Jersey, details allegations of severe verbal and physical abuse, sexual harassment, and discrimination. The complaint, which is currently before a New Jersey state court judge, also claims that employees were denied regular bathroom breaks, with one former worker reporting incontinence issues as a result.
HelloFresh and staffing agencies named in the lawsuit have denied the allegations. A HelloFresh spokesperson stated that an internal investigation found the claims to be "entirely without merit." The lawsuit claims that Hispanic workers were assigned the hardest tasks, subjected to racist remarks, and threatened with deportation by management. It also alleges that female employees faced sexual harassment and propositioning.
Further claims include supervisors using a baseball bat to menace workers and force them back to work, and instances where workers were denied medical treatment for job-related injuries. The legal team for the plaintiffs highlighted the vulnerability of immigrant workers and how their immigration status may have been exploited. The lawsuit is ongoing, with a hearing scheduled for October 23, 2026.
