18 Feb
Summary
- Crystal Harris fears Hefner's scrapbooks may contain underage images.
- Scrapbooks allegedly include private, explicit photos of women.
- Harris filed complaints with California and Illinois Attorneys General.

Crystal Harris, the widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, has initiated legal action to locate an estimated 3,000 of his personal scrapbooks. She voiced serious concerns during a press conference on Tuesday, suggesting that these private collections might feature explicit images of women, with a particular fear that some individuals depicted could be underage or may not have consented to having their photos taken or stored.
Harris emphasized that her concern extends beyond published materials, focusing instead on private moments captured behind closed doors. She fears that the digitization and potential online dissemination of these decades-old images could cause irreparable harm to thousands of women. She has also reported being removed from her position as CEO/President of the Hugh M. Hefner Foundation after raising these issues, prompting her to file complaints with the Attorneys General of California and Illinois.
In addition to the scrapbooks, Hefner's personal diary is also reportedly in possession of the foundation, containing sensitive details about his sexual exploits. Harris stated her goal is not financial gain but to ensure dignity and safety by seeking the destruction of non-consensual intimate materials. She married Hefner in 2012, and he passed away in 2017.
