An Irish healthcare recruitment platform, Healthdaq, has been targeted by cybercriminals, with hackers claiming to have stolen hundreds of thousands of sensitive files. The platform, used by health trusts in Northern Ireland, manages recruitment and stores detailed personal data, identity information, and background check results on staff.
Healthdaq confirmed an unauthorized access and extraction of data occurred on March 30. The compromised information may include names, contact details, CVs, qualifications, government-issued IDs, and potentially health information. This breach carries a risk of identity theft, fraud, or misuse of personal data, according to the company.
Hackers, identified as the XP95 group, are demanding a ransom and claim to have acquired nearly half a million files, including driving licenses and vaccine records. Experts note that while hackers may exaggerate claims, established groups often rely on reputation, suggesting a degree of truth to the breach's scale. Affected individuals are advised to remain vigilant and cautious of suspicious activity.
