In Hazaribag, Alok Gupta, aged 30, has been arrested for the severe assault of an 11-year-old boy. The brutal incident, captured on video and widely circulated on social media, prompted intervention from Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The assault reportedly began after a minor dispute during a cricket match in the Harinagar locality, involving the victim and Gupta's nephew.
Following a formal First Information Report (FIR) filed by the victim's mother, police initiated action against Gupta. Despite attempts to evade questioning, Gupta was apprehended near a hotel. The subdivisional police officer condemned the act as barbaric, emphasizing zero tolerance for violence against minors in a civilized society. Investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of others.
Gupta was taken for medical examination at Barhi subdivisional hospital. Notably, he was made to walk to the Barhi Chowk from a petrol station on Dhanbad Road after the police vehicle allegedly experienced a breakdown while transporting him to jail, adding a peculiar footnote to his arrest.
