Hazaribag Drug Bust: 7 Arrested Near Aerodrome

Seven suspected drug peddlers were apprehended by police on Friday near the Nagwa aerodrome in Hazaribag. The raid, conducted by a team led by the Sadar sub-divisional police officer, followed a tip-off about a large brown sugar transaction.
Authorities confiscated approximately 166.5 grams of brown sugar, Rs 3.51 lakh in cash, two motorcycles, and six mobile phones from the suspects. The arrested individuals included the alleged kingpin, Santosh Kumar Saw, and six others from various locations within the Chatra and Hazaribag districts.
During interrogation, the accused admitted to obtaining brown sugar from the Chatra district and subsequently selling it across different areas of Hazaribag. A case has been filed against them under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the NDPS Act.
Recent drug seizures in the area highlight ongoing enforcement efforts. In January alone, police confiscated over 20 kg of opium, 212.7 grams of brown sugar, and 48.01 kg of marijuana across different police station limits.
