Cops Crack Down on Jewel Thieves, Recover Stolen Goods

On November 10, 2025, the Hazaribag police announced the successful crackdown on two criminal gangs responsible for a major jewelry robbery. The incident occurred on November 5th at the residence of Sardar Ranveer Singh under the Barabazar Police Station, where jewelry worth Rs 40 lakh had been stolen.
A special investigation team led by SDPO Amit Kumar Anand was formed to probe the dacoity. Aided by CCTV footage, the police were able to track down Puroshottam Kumar Yadav, a resident of Chota Gowaltoli near the Chatra bus stand. Yadav was arrested on the intervening night of November 9 and 10. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed that he had sold most of the stolen jewelry to one Niraj Kumar Soni, alias Pappu. Soni was subsequently arrested as well.
The police recovered a total of 268.53 grams of gold, Rs 39,000 in cash, and a mobile phone from the two suspects. Puroshottam was found to be involved in five prior cases at Hazaribag Sadar, Korah, and Mayurhand Police Stations in Chatra, while Niraj had a case registered against him at Korah. Both men had recently been released from jail before committing this latest heist.
