A family's Christmas presents were stolen from under their tree during a burglary that occurred in Haydock just before 03:00 GMT on Saturday. The thieves also made off with a handbag and keys during the break-in at the Fairclough Crescent property.
This incident was part of a series of crimes in the area, with Merseyside Police reporting nine other attempted burglaries between 03:00 and 03:30 GMT. The rapid succession of break-ins suggests a coordinated effort or a crime spree.
Following the burglaries, a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were apprehended by the police. Investigations are ongoing to determine their full involvement in these offenses.
