Foreign Arms Seized in Haryana Gang Bust

Six individuals connected to the Rohit Godara-Lipin Nehra network have been apprehended in Haryana, leading to the seizure of a significant cache of firearms, including four foreign-made pistols. These weapons are suspected to have been trafficked into India via Pakistan, prompting an investigation into the arms supply chain. The arrests have brought renewed attention to a gang rivalry that originated with the murder of gangster Ashok Rathi five years ago. Two of the apprehended men, Salim and Narender alias Sonu, were previously charged in connection with Rathi's November 2019 murder. Police believe they and their associates were preparing to execute further attacks on rival gang members. The feud has persisted for years, with clashes even occurring within Bhondsi jail in 2021, demonstrating the deep-seated nature of the conflict across correctional facilities and criminal networks.

Investigators revealed that the arrested gang members were actively involved in plotting extortion schemes and carrying out targeted killings in Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, and the Delhi-NCR region. The crime branch in Sohna made the arrests between August 19 and August 24. Recovered items include one Zigana pistol, three PX30 pistols, two Indian-made pistols, a rifle, 33 live cartridges, and nine magazines, along with a Scorpio car, with an estimated total value of Rs 40 lakh. Interrogations indicated plans to assassinate rival gang members, with the group allegedly coordinating with international associates through social media and other communication platforms. This network is known for recruiting criminals, supplying weapons, and using proceeds from extortion to fund operations and support fugitive members.
