A significant crackdown has led to the arrest of thirteen alleged gang members implicated in a spate of violent incidents across Harlem and Upper Manhattan. These individuals face charges for their involvement in ten separate shootings that occurred between February 2021 and July of the current year. The alleged criminal enterprise culminated in the tragic death of a 16-year-old girl, a victim of this brazen violence.
Prosecutors detailed the gang's alleged intent to eliminate rivals, noting that their actions endangered countless innocent bystanders. The indictment, which spans 47 pages and includes 66 counts, covers charges such as conspiracy, attempted murder, assault, and weapons possession. Two of the defendants, Dandre Murray and Zakaria Camara, were arraigned on Wednesday, with others expected to follow.
The violence attributed to the group was particularly shocking, with allegations of them smuggling weapons into a courthouse to assault rivals. This incident occurred on the same floor where two of the main defendants were being arraigned. While thirteen suspects are accused, one remains at large, and the district attorney emphasized the unacceptable nature of such conduct in public spaces.
