An FIR has been registered in the Kachhauna police station area of Hardoi district against twelve named individuals and sixty unidentified persons concerning alleged sexual assault, robbery, and police negligence. The station house officer (SHO) of Kachhauna, Inspector Nirbhay Singh, has been suspended for initially registering a First Information Report (FIR) that favored the accused parties.
The incident began on the evening of January 25 when a clash occurred between two groups. The SHO allegedly registered an FIR on January 26 based on the statement of the party accused of the assault. Complaints regarding delay and alleged bias emerged, amplified when a video of the assault went viral on social media.
Following these developments, the superintendent of police ordered action against the SHO. Consequently, on January 28, Kachhauna police registered a new FIR based on the survivor's account, naming twelve accused and sixty unidentified individuals. Seven accused involved in the assault on the woman and her husband were arrested on Thursday evening, while authorities continue to search for the remaining suspects.
