In a surprising development, Ecuadorian police discovered nearly half a ton of cocaine marked with the image of Norwegian soccer sensation Erling Haaland. Authorities seized 469 kilograms (1,034 pounds) of the drug from a truck near the Colombian border. The driver was apprehended during the operation, which was initiated after police received an anonymous tip.

Drug traffickers commonly employ the likenesses of famous sports figures and celebrities to label their shipments. These images serve as a way to identify the criminal network responsible for the merchandise and indicate its intended recipient. Ecuador serves as a critical logistical hub for drug trafficking, facilitating the distribution of narcotics primarily to the United States and Europe. The seized cocaine, valued at approximately $842,000 domestically, has a significantly higher worth on international markets, exceeding $11 million in the U.S. and over 17 million euros in Europe.
