Mysterious Figure Visited Kidnapping Victim Before Abduction
24 Feb
Summary
- Suspect visited victim's home before alleged kidnapping.
- FBI released doorbell camera footage of the masked figure.
- A specific backpack sold only at Walmart is a key clue.

A masked figure, captured on Nancy Guthrie's doorbell camera, is believed to have visited her Tucson, Arizona, home prior to her alleged kidnapping on February 1. This visit occurred the day before the 84-year-old was reported missing by her family after missing a virtual church service. The FBI released surveillance footage showing the unidentified individual, described as a male approximately 5'9''-5'10'' tall, wearing a ski mask, a black outfit, and a distinctive black 'Ozark Trail Hiker Pack' backpack while attempting to disable the camera.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department highlighted the backpack as a significant clue, as it is exclusively sold at Walmart. Authorities are investigating sales of this specific backpack across Arizona to identify potential leads. Despite earlier reports, a backpack found by a search party was confirmed not to be the item sought by investigators. Over 12,000 tips have been received, and the reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie's rescue or recovery has been doubled to $200,000. Authorities consider the kidnapping to be targeted.
