FBI Agent Links Teen Arrest to Guthrie Disappearance
16 Mar
Summary
- Retired FBI agent suspects teen arrests connect to Guthrie case.
- Teens arrested in Arizona for alleged robbery involving cryptocurrency.
- Ransom notes demanding cryptocurrency were sent early in the investigation.

A retired FBI agent has proposed a theory linking the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie to the recent arrest of two teenagers in Arizona. Jennifer Coffindaffer suggested on March 10 that the January 31 arrest of two California teens, accused of duct-taping and assaulting homeowners in Scottsdale, Arizona, might be connected to Guthrie's case.
These teenagers were allegedly extorted to commit a robbery for $66 million worth of cryptocurrency, communicating through the Signal app. Coffindaffer noted the proximity of Scottsdale to Guthrie's residence in Tucson and highlighted a billboard in California related to Guthrie's disappearance as further points of interest.
Authorities previously received ransom notes demanding cryptocurrency, though their authenticity was never confirmed. Coffindaffer remains convinced that the FBI is investigating potential connections between the arrested teens, individuals known as 'Red' and '8,' and Nancy Guthrie's case.
