A sub-inspector was injured on Thursday in Bilaspur when a dumper truck registered in Haryana deliberately rammed into a police patrol car. The incident occurred when police signaled the truck to stop. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver attempted to run over the officers.
The sub-inspector, identified as Rakesh, was on patrol with other officers when they were alerted to the dumper truck's earlier involvement in an accident with an auto-rickshaw. Police pursued the dumper. When intercepted near Bilaspur Chowk, the cleaner allegedly encouraged the driver to ram the police vehicle. The dumper struck the patrol car forcefully, pushing it several feet.
The injured officer sustained injuries to his head, ear, thumb, and stomach. Both the driver and cleaner fled the scene, leaving the dumper behind. The vehicle was seized by the police. The sub-inspector was initially treated at a local health center before being referred to a hospital in Gurgaon for further care.
An FIR has been filed against the driver and cleaner under various sections of the BNS, including attempt to murder and voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant. Police are actively searching for the absconding individuals.
