A five-member special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to thoroughly investigate a road-rage incident that occurred near Gurgaon's Sector 55-56 Rapid Metro station on Sunday. The incident, involving a Delhi-based biker and a car, is being treated by police as an attempted murder.
The SIT, comprising senior officers and crime branch officials, is working to piece together the events. Two accused, Kalyan Singh Bainsla and his cousin Lavnish, were remanded to police custody until Friday. Investigators plan to recreate the sequence of events at the crime spot during their custody.
The victim, Shivani Chauhan, stated that the driver of a white Ciaz vehicle made indecent gestures, pursued her, and intentionally rammed her motorcycle with the intent to kill. Video footage from her bike camera corroborated her account, showing her motorcycle being knocked down.
Based on the victim's statement and video evidence, police have upgraded the charges to include attempt-to-murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The accused were arrested in Rajasthan, and the alleged car used in the incident has been seized. Police are seeking to identify and locate other individuals reportedly present in the car.
