Gurgaon Man Held for Faking UPI Payments to Hotel

A man identified as Himanshu has been arrested in Gurgaon for allegedly cheating a hotel out of Rs 6,17,000. The accused, a resident of Sohna, had stayed at the Lime Tree Hotels Service Apartment in DLF Phase V for an extended period. His stays occurred from October 4, 2025, to October 7, 2025, and subsequently from October 15, 2025, until February 24, 2026.
During his lengthy stay, Himanshu allegedly presented fake UPI screenshots via WhatsApp, claiming successful payments. However, hotel management discovered that these amounts were never credited to their bank account. When confronted, the accused failed to provide valid transaction IDs or bank statements confirming the payments.
Following a complaint by the hotel's director, Tapesh Kumar, police have registered a case under sections related to cheating and the IT Act. The hotel provided records detailing 15 transactions that were falsely claimed to have been completed. The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
