A Groveland police officer has been arrested and charged with two felonies following an alleged road rage incident involving her boyfriend. Mya Rosealin Salas faces charges of aggravated domestic battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated domestic stalking.
Investigators stated that Salas followed her boyfriend through Leesburg on Thursday night, repeatedly ramming his vehicle. The confrontation reportedly began after Salas went to a woman's home where her boyfriend was visiting. He claimed she followed him and rammed his car as he attempted to drive away.
Salas, who is six months pregnant, told police she suspected her boyfriend was at another woman's house and followed him. She claimed she could not see his vehicle clearly because she was not wearing her glasses. The couple had been in an on-and-off relationship for five years and lived together.
The boyfriend stated he had ended the relationship earlier that day and wished to co-parent their child. Despite his reluctance to press charges, law enforcement officers can make arrests based on probable cause in domestic violence cases.
