Wedding Chaos: Groom Booked for Highway Blockade
28 Apr
Summary
- Groom, father, and others booked in FIR for highway disruption.
- Five arrested, six vehicles seized for dangerous procession stunts.
- Police monitor social media to curb wedding procession hooliganism.

A wedding procession in Nuh escalated into a public nuisance, leading to police intervention on April 23. Youths engaging in dangerous stunts atop moving vehicles and blocking the NH-919 (Dharuhera-Sohna Road) prompted authorities to act. Police have since named the groom, Sohail from Nizampur village, and his father in an FIR, alongside several others.
Five individuals, including drivers of several vehicles, were arrested on Monday. The arrests were made after police reviewed videos shared on social media, which captured the procession's disruptive activities. Six vehicles, including luxury cars, were impounded under the Motor Vehicles Act.
The FIR filed at Sadar Taoru station includes charges related to endangering human life, rash driving, obstruction in public ways, and public nuisance under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police emphasized that celebrations are acceptable but must not inconvenience commuters.
This crackdown follows a recent warning against wedding procession hooliganism in the district. Police are actively monitoring social media for any such violations. Penalties for the offenses range from fines to imprisonment, with all charges being bailable.
