Humberside Police launched an investigation after a child was admitted to the hospital with unexplained injuries on February 8th. Responding to a call from healthcare professionals expressing concerns for the child's safety in Grimsby, officers subsequently arrested an 18-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.
The pair were taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and assaulting a young person. They have since been released on conditional bail while the police continue their inquiries to determine the full circumstances behind the child's injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Jayne Coutts stated that the investigation is ongoing, with officers working to establish the facts. She confirmed that the child has been safeguarded, and a temporary scene guard at the location has been lifted following the initial police assessment.
