A grandmother in Roswell, Georgia, has been charged in connection with the drowning death of her 2-year-old grandson. The incident occurred on the evening of June 21.
Emelisa Paz-Santos, 44, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter and second-degree cruelty to children. Authorities responded to a call at a clubhouse pool where bystanders were performing CPR on 2-year-old Axel Delgado. The toddler was transported to a local hospital but passed away the following day.
Investigators concluded that Paz-Santos failed to provide adequate care and supervision for Delgado during a family gathering at the pool. The investigation into the drowning is continuing.
